How To Set Search Engine Friendly (SEO) WordPress Permalinks (URL). There are many options to set WordPress blog permalinks (post URL’s) but you must set them such that they are search engine friendly.

There are only two options to set permalinks for best SEO. They are as follows -

Option 1: Set your wordpress permalink such that after your domain name your post title should appear. To set this, go to your wordpress admin >> settings >> permalinks. In Permalink Settings click on Custom Structure column and add the following -

/%postname%/

Option 2: You can also set your permalink such that after your domain name your wordpress category will appear and then post name. To set this, go to your wordpress admin >> settings >> permalinks. In Permalink Settings click on Custom Structure column and add the following -

/%category%/%postname%/

These are the two options which work best for search engine optimization of your wordpress permalink or post URL. Most of them use option 1, but if your category name has keywords in it, then go for option 2.
