It is a common feature to see many of the Tollywood folks showing extreme craze for Hollywood movies and trying to derive inspiration from it. However, the talented movie maker Sekhar Kammula is one man who seems to be quite obsessed with not just the films but also their titles.
Apparently, Kammula has used English words as the titles for most of his movies. He started with ‘Dollar Dreams’ and came up with nouns in the form of ‘Anand’ and ‘Godavari’. Eventually, he shifted to ‘Happy Days’ followed by ‘Leader’. Many are saying that Kammula seems to be thinking of himself as a Hollywood director being in a field that has a large impact on the society, keeping the essence of Telugu culture is a responsibility.
Now, taking Kammula as inspiration, others began to get into English titles such as ‘Lifestyle’ ‘Call Center’ ‘Holidays’ ‘Parents’ etc. Perhaps he should work on his titling business now. All this was revealed in a discussion held by the members of the Telugu Adhikara Bhasha Sangham off the record. They are worried how Sekhar, the most popular influential icon is spoiling other directors with English titles. |
